Zifan's Learner Profile
Yesterday, our class did a experience in humanities on our Learning Profile. The learning profile I got in the end is A, which I didn't find it too surprising about it. The parts of body that we have tested on are our brain, eyes, ears, hands and feet. It was all very fun to do.
The profile says I learns best by focusing on the details. Processes by analysis, verbalization, and writing. But I think I also likes to learn by moving around and do hands-on things too. It also says I can learn best by auditory and visual. But I love kinesthetic and I found out I actually sucked at visual (I do like art a lot and can do really well though!!!!). I thought it was kind of surprising at this part because I know about this and I thought it was could of weird of it saying the opposite of what I thought. That's all about how do I learn best with.
The thing I need to improve in as it says about me is that I have to control my level of stress or I can get angry easily. I thought it actually is very much true because I do get angry easily. Sometimes, I even get angry without knowing it, which means I have hurt my friends serial times already. I also found out that this is like the only part that I strongly agrees with what it says on the paper.
The strategy/ies that can help me to improve my learning is maybe be more active (I don't know if that's true...) and maybe don't get mad too easily. I thought the don't get mad too easily part is like my weak spot because sometimes, I hurt people without knowing it all because I was kind of yelling at them when I talk to them. I'm not sure if I should be more active and do more hands-on things because I nearly do it every time if I can find a place to do so.
The last thing is that I want my teacher to know that I am pretty much very even and probably OK with whatever the assignment is about. I also find out that I study better by sitting at the front a little to the left because except for my brain, I have everything on my right that's dominate to me. However, I do like to do things at different times. For example, if I'm really tired and I have to do a big end-of-unit test or do push ups in PE, I would be hating it forever. This is also why I get bossy and couldn't calm down because on my paper, it says I can easily get annoyed or angry. Sometimes I'm sleepy and just don't feel like moving around (even though I'd love to when I'm not sleepy). Art is something that's both OK and relaxing to me at any time. But I hate it if it just comes to talking with no action or with lot of instructions like "don't touch this and don't do that..." (No offense Mrs Paz!!). I think I'm still too active for all that and just can't sit still for a whole 80 minutes (unless I just have to do it with no other choice).
Here's a picture of my profile person. As you can see, I am mostly right with my Brain left.
Enjoy :D :D

Collaborative Literature Circle
In class when it was humanities, we did a collaborative Lit. Circle. The partner I have chosen is Shin and I thought we did a good job. The book we are reading is called "Hatchet". It is written by Gary Paulsen. The book is very interesting and I have also described it in my last blog (you can scroll down the page a little bit to see my previous blog post) as well. Now I shall answer three questions about working with a partner. First...
1. The benefits of working with a classmate
The benefits of working with a classmate is that first, we can all relax and focus less on it because we don't have that much work to do it on. The Reason that we don't have to do much work on it is because the other person will be working on some of it so you can have more relaxing time. The second thing that's good about this Lit. Circle is that we can get the other partner to check your work so if it doesn't make sense to him but make sense to you, then you'll have to change it because it might not make sense to the teacher who's grading them as well, which mean...BAD GRADES!!!!
Second...
2. Challenges / obstacles which you overcame (tried to overcome).
This time, the obstacles I have overcome with my partner are the question part. The question part was really hard and we, at that time, can only come up with one question. We thought and thought about another one but at last, Shin thought of a good one and we put is on. This is one of the hardest part I think we have overcame and I felt really happy because at first, we thought we're going to fail.
Lastly...
3. New understandings that you gained about the novel.
This time, the new things I have understood about this novel is that Brian is able to make a fire and he is also able to gather food for himself so he won't starve. I think those are very important and that is why this time, our passage on our Lit. Circle is about those two topics. I also knew now exactly what the secret Brian always have in his memories is and what it's about. This also allowed us to link to why Brian's parents got divorced. The last new thing I have discovered about this novel is that Brian got hurt by a porcupine. These are about all of the things I have understood this time about this novel.
Enjoy!! :D

My Lit Circle Group
My Lit Circle group helped me really much. First, the discussion helped me. Without the discussion, I would have a much lower understanding of the book because each person would probably have a different point and a different view. This way, we all can understand more because sometimes, something in the book could have a lot of meanings. We can also tell someone that his or her idea isn't right when they had a wrong understanding of the passage and this way, we can all learn together instead of us guess the wrong anwser and have a bad mark in our Lit Circle sheet.
The connections I have made during the discusion was when I saw a fighting movie about a guy having C.P.R. from someone else and that, I thought, related to Brian because the pilot needed C.P.R. at that time as well. The second one was when nearly everytime I have a plane ride, especailly on the part where we are about to land, I would feel like I have whether forgot my stomach behind somehow or feel a kind of pressure pushing against my ear and everything sounds strange instead of their normal voices. I thought this related to the book because when Brian's plane was about to crash, the plane went down really fast and he could also feel those things above as well.
My prediction about what will happen next is that Brian would probably fall down into the forest below and stay there for probably a very long time until somehow, a plane came and took him home. But I think it would be really hard for him to survive, he might even die by the crash.
Here's a plane shown only the tail in the sea like Brian's plane.

Steel, Germs and Guns
I have chosen #2
The two reasons for question number two are First, The Australian people and the New Zealand people are originally from England(I'm pretty sure for Australia because I have learned that like a million times in the Australian School). The people traveled all the way to Australia and because they are from England, the England government allows them to take some of the goods of England to Australia and New Zealand. But at that time, the Papua New Guinea people didn't have anyone to support them. They are stuck in that country. And because they were stuck in the country they're in, they have little knowledge about what's outside. So because of that, they have no idea that they are way behind everyone else around them. And also, the people there have poor technology so even if they want to notice things outside their country, they don't have the tools to let them know the outside. So that's one reason why the people in Papua New Guinea are very behind now.
The second reason is that the race of the people are different. The Australians are European and the Papua New Guinea people are Asian. The Europeans at that time was a powerful nation and their technologies was way ahead and way better than anyone else in the world except for America. But the Asians at the time were mostly fighting against people and they got last behind. Even for those like Papua New Guinea who wasn't in a fight, they have poor(as I said before) technologies and they can not explore like the Europeans does. So I think this was another important reason for Papua New Guinea been left behind today.

The scary day of Tom, the mudskipper and his friends
As I opened my eyes from my bed, I had a really weird feeling that today was special. I was really excited, so I sit up on my bed and tiptoed across the small mud room. As I reached the door way, something was telling me you shouldn't go out but I opened the door and stepped outside any ways.
The day was filled with gentle breezes and the sky was mostly covered with could. I have nothing to do the first thing in the morning so I went over to one of my friend's house because I heard him say that he wakes up long before the first ray of the sun. His name is Timy and as I went near his house, I smelled something good. Suddenly, I felt very hungry. So I knocked on the door of Timy's and the door was opened a few moments later by a surprised Timy.
"I can believe it's you, I mean I thought you wake up much later then today. Do you want anything?"
"Er, no. I just feel so excited and so jumpy today. I also felt really hungry." I said, trying to use some words to cover up that I want to eat at Timy's place.
"Oh! You're hungry! You should have told me that earlier. Come in at once and eat with me."
"Yay!!" I said under my breathe.
Timy's house was much bigger than mine and have more decorations also. I looked around the room and before Timy said where it is, I already found out!
After breakfast at Timy's house, I went outside to start back to my house. The air was much more hotter than when I just woke up so I know I must have spend a lot of time at Timy's. As I was going, I met Hary the crab.
"Hello Tom, where you goin'?"
"Hey Hary. I'm going back to my house."
"Oh, can I come?"
"Er... Actually... Yeah, sure!"
So Hary and I went to my house.
About an hour later or so, noises begin to boom outside like a hundred of this village!
"I wonder who could make such awful noise, what do you think Hary?"
"Hary?!"
Hary paid no attention to me, so I pushed him. But I push way harder than I thought and suddenly, Hary flew outside. He came back five second later with an angry and scared face.
"G, G, Gi, Giant's outside!!"
I was about to laugh, but then, DOOSH!! A gigantic stick landed on the door of our house and then again, DOOSH!! But this time, one of Hary's leg got stuck under the stick.
"Ouch!! Ouch, OUCH!!" Hary cried.
Then, the beating stopped. Suddenly, a giant boot squashed my bed. I quickly climbed out the hole the boot have made with Hary and then I saw it, those gigiantic beings. Then I turned around just in time to see a stick on top of my head!! I took a giant hop and I turned again. The giant was still after me! I tried to jump again but was blocked by another giant. Argh! I'm going to die!
But then, things changed. The giant that blocked me was goon and the other one with a stick have stopped. I hopped away as fast as I could and I noticed the giant was crying for help! I suddenly knew that the giant was stuck instead of not stepping onto me. Me and Hary jumped into one of the mangrove roots nearby for protection.
After the last giant was gone, I took a deep breath and went out of the protection. The village changed, totally changed.
Instead of just flat and sticky mud, the place was surrounded by small mangroves. I hopped here and there. I found one of the boot stuck in the mud. But the inside looks worm and comforty. So I took one of Hary's leg and throw him inside. Then I saw my parents so I told them to come here.
After Hary went home with his parents, I relaxed in the boot. So that was the thing I was worrying about. I went out one last time and then, I saw a white leaf!
It wasn't really a leaf but on the leaf, it says: ISKL 6A Firefly Trip (Kuala Selangor). So... Those giants are from ISKL 6A!
Thanks alot to them Hary can't play with us for one month. But as for the boot, I have to say thank you to the 6As.
That wasn't exiciting, that was SCARY!!

The time I've been bullying in Australia
I always remembered the time that I had been a bully in Australia. That happened when I was in fifth grade in Australia (Australian schools start school earlier than in KL), I had much more friends through fourth grade at that time so me and my 6 more friends formed a little gang. The people in my gang didn't really like a guy called student 1 (he was Romanian), who was actually my best friend when I came to the school. So they wanted me to help them. At first, I didn't want to do it because it was my best friend and he helped me so much when I was new to the school, but after some times, I started to find out that he didn't turn out to good. Then, I thought that I, was actually the first one who ask Andy to be friend (even though, I wasn't that good at English, so when he asks "Are we still friends?", I would hesitate because I didn't understood what STILL means), so in the end, I agreed to help the other people in my gang.
Now, I'm no longer in that school but then one day, in the summer holidays, I felt REALLY uncomfortable. After a few days, I finally know why I felt uncomfortable, I had recalled the time in Australia when I was bullying Andy!! I remember that day when we were all playing a game called hand-ball with my ball, I refused to let Andy play. And another time, Andy got bullied by my other friends and I didn't feel like helping him saying he didn't do it (because everyone thought he is a liar).
Now in ISKL, I understood how bullying sometimes could really hurt other peoples feelings and desperate and I really felt especially sorry for bullying one of my best friend. Now I can do a much better job on not to bully, don't say yes to a bullying gang, try to at least let the person who got bullied feel better by talking to them if you don't dare to stand in front of a bully and just ignore what the bully said or did if they were bullying you.
This year at ISKL, I desperately wants to make a difference on bullying, especially when some else had been bullied. I wish I can do ALL the things I listed above and I also wished I gets popular so no bullies will bully me (if there is one...) but not by bullying other people for that as well. That's one true story of when I, was a bully myself. Enjoy!!

The time I had to face my FEAR, the auto-flushing toilet!!
If I wants to write about my fear, I would probably choose this true story of me facing my fear happened a long time ago, when I was three. The part when I got scared was not as annoying as the part when I had to face it again!
One day, when I was three, I got scared of the auto flushing toilet. Here is how it happened (as much as I can remember, since it was my whole life fear). One day in my apartment building, I was playing (or messing around) pool. About one hour later, I starts to have a feeling that's like wanting to go to the toilet. So a little later, when I at last couldn't bear it any longer, I started my way to the toilet...
Once inside the toilet and I went to the pee tanks, I noticed something weird (I didn't know they changed the tanks two days ago), the tanks all have a red beam that looks like an evil eye. When you stare at it, it hurts your eyes a little. I went to the tank with a sense that something was wrong and started peeing. When I was done, I thought the whole thing was over for the beam was no longer on. I relaxed. Then, all of a sudden, the tank flushes and made such a sudden and loud noise that I jumped!! (I know because I felt myself jump) I got a bad fever the day after this day and it lasted for nearly a month (but it was kind of good because I got a bucket of LEGO)!! So that's what had happened to make my toilet fear.
This part was about one and a half year later, when I was in a 10 leveled store (the store was REALLY rich), I had to go to the toilet again!! I finally found the place where the toilet was. My fingers touched the knob on the door and I went in. But the first thing that caught my eyes were not the rich decorations on the wall nor the wonderful spring smell in the pee tanks (there are those special round small balls in it which makes the smell), it was... THE RED BEAM ON THE PEE TANK!! I got struck dumb. I suddenly have a sickened feeling that I wanted to run, but when I made my first move, I realised that I HAVE to face my fear if I wants to pee because I couldn't hold it back know by the fear. So, one step after another, I carefully made my way towards the tank with the evil red eye staring at me. I stopped, had a last look at the eye and, when I was done, I turned around all of a sudden and started sprinting to the sink, quickly washed my hand and just before I reached the door knob, KERBOOM!! The sound went up as if a cannon was placed next to me but it might be because there are a few people in the toilet, this time, I didn't get scared! Instead, I turned back, faced the red eye, and I said," Well this time, you didn't scare me! Beat that!".
But after I came out, I no longer felt fear and anger, instead, I felt really exciting and relaxed! I couldn't wait to tell my mum about this, because I had just beaten my whole live fear, the auto flushing toilet!!
I would say that my experience of the toilet was over. But I really hopes you enjoyed my most-part-memorized story and my most exciting part of the my life story as well, The Fear Of The Auto-flushing Toilet!!

How did artifacts tells about the early humans?
Well, as the pictures or the artifacts tells us, the early humans all are a very good hunter because there are a lot of people chasing horses, deers and bisons. The humans also seem wild because of the way they hunted. They don't hunt with swords back then, instead, they uses bones from animals, stones, wood (wooden clubs, wooden swords...), and loads of other tools that aren't better than the weapons we have now (which is mostly made out of steel). When their tools were basic, they had to live in caves and places found in the natural environment and the Australopithecus Afarensis didn't have fire to keep them warm either.
The early humans lives were hard. On some pictures, there were people who were killed by fighting bisons. But some cave paintings showed animals and thing very strange. Scientists thinks that the paintings might be some kind of a spirit or belief of the early humans. Early humans also has celebrations too. They have cave paintings such as hand prints, foot prints, and lots more. One scientist even found a clay sculpture with small foot prints around it! Scientist thinks that the the humans were probably having a celebration for kids and the kids danced around the sculpture to maybe celebrate a certain kind of age, or maybe they are finally a man.
But eventually, if their lives are hard, there's going to be heroes. The painting on some of them shows only one to three persons attacking an animal or animals. But sometimes, there are death. If they draw someone, then it must mean that the guy they drew is important. But another thing is that if they drew about death, that means at the time of the early humans, death must been taken as a kind of thing that always will happen.
I think that's the most I can say and the most I can explain, hope you guys enjoys it!!

My Dream Job!!
I would be a Historian (if I had a chance to) because then you can study about dinosaurs that died a million years ago and dig in the sandy deserts, hopping to find a fossil like the picture. Or you will study why World War 1 and World War 2 started and you can go to the places why once it was a battle ground and finds remains of whatever was used at that time. I wants to be a Historian because I like collecting little scraps or peaces or whatsoever. The third reason that made me like History was that once at a city a little away from Perth, I was playing in the sand and I found a weird looking bone. Even though, it might not be an ancient bone, I still really liked it. Later on, a friend of mine told me that it looks like one of the dinosaur bone he saw in the museum one day.
But besides this cool job, I think I would like to be any of them jobs that are listed. But for some reason, I think I wouldn't enjoy Geographer as much as the others but if I have to, I think its fine.
My cousin really wants to be an Archaeologists. He thinks that one day, he is going to found out the secret rooms of the pyramids in Egypt. But maybe its true because (I not really sure if he was just bragging but it sounds pretty much true to me) he said that one day, he was digging the dirts to find rocks for his rock collection, and he dug into a big, hollowed place on the ground. Then he went inside and he saw some weird scrabbles all over the place. But he was just four at the time so he used that as his secret hiding spot. That how he didn't tell anyone about it.
My great grandpa used to be an Historian. My dad told me when he actully did discover a secret room full of paintings on the wall. One of them even showed a tiger and three humans fighting. But my great grandfather passed away sixteen years ago of a kind of brain damage. There might be some left overs from the discovery of my great grandpa, but I never find it.

That is probably all. I hope you guys enjoyed reading it!!

First Week In MS!!!!
Hi everyone, my name is Zifan and I comes from China. I just past my birthday in January third (which I had a BIG party with my out-of-school friends and I got thousands of presents!!) this year and this is the first week in I am in Middle School! I really likes Middle School and I especially likes the cafeteria. I also likes the teachers here too because they are all very nice. I have lots of friends from my old campus (Elementary School) and I really enjoys collecting things such as rocks, stickers, feathers, coins, bookmarks and a lot lot more. I really likes my coin collection. I got three sets. One for Malaysia, another one for Australia, and one for China. I collects patterns for coins like the Australian ones but if it doesn't have much patterns or no patterns at all (which was not likely) like Malay or Chinese, I collect the years for the coins. I also collects moneys from different countries. I got twenty-two rocks in my rock collection. I really liked one rock that looks like a emerald to me. I really likes Asian foods even though sometimes its kind of spicy. Sometimes, I likes Indian food and Malay food because I really likes Roti Canai. I also likes Korean food.
The last three books I've read were "A Story About Pluto" written by Elaine Scott and it was about how Pluto is a planet, "The Deep End Gang" which is the one I'm reading at school which was about this family that just moved to Winnipeg, Canada and they had three friends to check a haunted house because they saw someone in the house one night and they caught the owner that have faked he was dead and the author is Peggy Dymond Leavey. I am just now reading our library book called "Rover" by Jackie Frengh which was about a girl got taken by the Vikings and I love them all!!!!
The last movie I've seen was "2012". I also saw a few cartoons like "Toy Story 3" and "Up"... And I actually liked some of them!! 2012 was about when they have to built boats so they can go over the tsunamis happening all over the world. Up was about a boy who wants to help a old man but got trapped outside the house when the house was flying!! Toy Story 3 was about this boy called Andy who grew up and have to throw his toys away. The last two Toy Story movie was also pretty good but that was when Andy didn't grow up yet.
This year, I am aiming for all A's. Because I had a deal to beat my cousins in the US so I can get presents and rewards in front of them. Otherwise, I won't get any presents at all!!!!
My social goal is gonna be taking more cares of others, because I think I need some improvement on thinking more of others. I think my best friend Gard (I have lots of best friends!!) is pretty good on this point.
But best of all, I loved my vacation when I was in Perth, Australia and especially when I was at the beach. Because I did so much games and things and I sees a lot, especially the biggest sea shell I've ever seen on a beach but I didn't pick it up, it was TOOO deep but I was the only one that sees it 'cause my eyesight was pretty good. I also likes to ride bicycles in Perth. I can even control the bicycle with my hands off the handles!!!! It was REALLY relaxing and fun (that is really going to be a lot for my collections!!).
I never really thought about using words to describe myself but if I have to use a few words to describe myself, I think kind, friendly, caring, careful, and likes-learning will probably suits me. But I was actually working on some of that last year!!
